Our Trail Rides
“Memorable”, “exciting”, “marvelous”. These are only a few of the words that have been used to describe our trail ride experience. Offering 1 hr, 1.5 hr, and 2 hr rides, Tamarack Stables prides itself on the safe and family-friendly experience we provide for all of our riders. All trail rides are guided walk-only rides. Occupants will be taught how to ride their own horse, before starting their adventure.
*Tandem riding (2 riders to 1 horse) is NOT permitted.
1 Hour Ride
Never ridden a horse before? No problem! Our 1 hr trail is set up for such an occasion. This ride is available for ages 8+. Riders under the age of 8 may join the ride but must have a staff member assist them for an additional fee. Our 1 hr ride will take you and your group through the beautiful rolling woods of Mason Neck. With two water crossing options, this experience is one you won't forget.

2 Hour Ride
Long-haul riders will enjoy our 2 hr trail ride. This beautiful trail will take you through the Mason Neck forest alongside Pohick Bay. This ride is recommended for experienced riders. This adventure is for the rider that’s looking for a more eventful trail ride with longer inclines/declines and steeper terrain.
Our 2 hr trail ride is strictly for ages 10+. Riders under the age of 10 will NOT be permitted on this ride.
1.5 Hour Ride
The 1.5 hr ride is a ride for the semi-experienced. Even if you have not ridden but are a confident individual this experience may be for you. Similar to our 1 hr ride with the option of two water crossings, the 1.5 hr ride adds another 0.5 hr to really soak up the whole adventure.
This trail ride is strictly for ages 8+, any rider under the age of 8 will NOT be permitted along this ride.
Cowboy Cookout & Trail Ride
Looking for the full cowboy experience? Tamarack's “Cowboy Cookout” is just that, a 45-60 min trail ride followed by any time of day cookout over an open fire. This ride is available for ages 8+. Riders under the age of 8 may join the ride but must have a staff member assist them for an additional fee. All occupants will mount up and ride out with a guide to our campfire area. There we will dismount and our staff will assist with your horses. Meanwhile, your guide will be preparing your fire and meal. So Cowboy up and join us!
